An introduction to my journey in polytechnic so far

Hi, I am Adrianne Gill, a second-year student of Republic Polytechnic currently pursuing a diploma in User Experience. Having initially enrolled into this school under the Common Arts Program, I have gained an abundance of insight into what makes technological arts such a uniquely contemporary branch of creativity. Through this program, I have learnt and utilized the tools and principles that are fundamental in each arts diploma that Republic Polytechnic offers. From utilizing photoshop to craft marketing material for artists and brands, to understanding the essential theories behind a good user experience and the processes involved in a usability project, the technological arts are a branch as meticulous and detailed as science.

As I have progressed through the years, I have found great interest in User Experience(UX), and the varying fields of which I have become accustomed to. From designing digital platforms with the use of Figma, to analyzing and crafting solutions for improved service, I have been exposed to several aspects of UX that have broadened my understanding on the importance of a holistic approach when working with the user's needs in mind, Through the modules that I have undergone, I have also learnt about the differing principles and processes that dictate design choices and solutions, such as color theory for interface design and frontstage/backstage processes for service design. I am keen on honing and enhancing my craft as my tertiary education journey continues to craft and produce designs and solutions that are aesthetic, user-orientated and effective.
